On Saturday, August 24, 2004, SpringDot® celebrated their 100th anniversary – a milestone that few family-owned businesses have the privilege to achieve.
SpringDot® was founded by Sidney Deutsch, an Austrian immigrant who, like many, entered America through Ellis Island in the early part of the 19th century.
In August 1904, Mr. Deutsch – great grandfather of current owner Josh Deutsch – bought his first printing press.
He left his job of sanding pianos to make this purchase. The purchase of this printing press started a long and successful lithography business.
Sidney Printing Works (which would eventually become SpringDot®) opened the first location on Fifth Avenue in Downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. Over the next 83 years, the company would move a total of five times; each time expanding to larger locations to better serve the printing needs of the Cincinnati area.
During this time, the company transitioned through three generations of the Deutsch family and has grown from a one color print shop to a full-scale, high quality lithographer.
In the year 2000, the employees and family at Sidney Printing decided it was time to change the name of the company to reflect the evolving business model and changes that were occurring around the world.
SpringDot – Energized Communication™ was born. The 'S' and 'D' were to stand for 'Sidney Deutsch' and the 'Dot' represents a dot of print and the dot for the internet.
In late 2003, SpringDot® transitioned to its 4th generation of the Deutsch family.
Today, we operate our business with the same commitment to quality and service that made Sidney Deutsch such a successful entrepreneur:
"Never say no. Always have empathy for the customer. Feel their need, feel their passion. Deliver a great product every time. Be fair, and always be honest."
